Walking the London Outer Orbital Path from Elstree & Borehamwood station to Cockfosters – Section 16 – on 3 November 2019. Another okay but not especially exciting section of the route, with a diversion off-route to the memorial to the Battle of Barnet. The section running alongside, under, then back alongside the very busy A1 main road is really not great at all.

LOOP footpath 10 – Hatch End to Borehamwood
Walking the London Outer Orbital Path from Hatch End to Borehamwood – Section 15 – on 27 October 2019. An okay but not especially exciting section of the route. Guides to the path talk up passing Bentley Priory, but you can barely see it behind the fence. The leg under the motorway then alongside a road is not great.
Autumn is now very much here, with the path being a bit muddy in places.
A ride on the JHMD narrow gauge railway
A trip on the southern section of the 760 mm gauge JMHD railway in the Czech Republic, filmed badly on a cheap phone.

The world’s shortest international railway
What is claimed to be the “shortest international railway” runs for a few metres between Nové Údolí in the Czech Republic and the other side of the now-open border with Germany.
The standard gauge line is on the alignment of a former railway which was fatally severed by the events of the 20th century. Not far away is a small railway museum in an old wagon, and also a rebuilt section of iron curtain.
The international line is operated using a push-along trolley made to look like a steam loco, complete with smoke. Unfortunately it only carries children, so I couldn’t ride on it when I visted on 3 August 2019; I did ask!
